“I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Actually, I was born in Illinois. My mother and father were on an oleo margarine run to Chicago back in 1934, because we couldn't get colored margarine in Wisconsin. On the way home, my mother was with child. Me. And the pains started, and my dad pulled off into an exit area, and that's where the event took place. I remember it was a Nativity type setting. An exit light shining down. There were three truck drivers there. One guy was carrying butter , one guy had frankfurters, and the other guy was a retired baseball scout who told my folks that I probably had a chance to play somewhere down the line.” -Bob Uecker

Beloved Milwaukee sports Icon Bob Uecker has lived a storied life not only as the brewers radio announcer, but as an actor and an athlete. After spending over 50 years in the sport, Bob “Mr. Baseball” Uecker has accumulated a vast knowledge of the sport, as well as numerous hilarious stories.

Bob Uecker’s Brewers Winter Warm-Up will feature members of the 2009 Milwaukee Brewers, variety-style game shows with players and Brewers staff, and special appearances by comedians and other entertainers. Brewers front office executives and broadcasters will also be in attendance. The memorable evening will be hosted by Brewers legendary Hall-of-Famer, Bob Uecker.

“We’re taking this event in a new direction this year, creating more of a variety show format that will include everything from serious baseball talk about the Brewers to fun on-stage activities with members of the 2009 team,” said Brewers Executive Vice President – Business Operations Rick Schlesinger. “We’re thrilled to have Bob Uecker hosting and look forward to a special event that promises to be unlike any other.”

Additionally, there will be a VIP reception at The Riverside from 5:30 – 7 pm that night. Tickets to the reception, priced at $500 each, will include cocktails, a buffet dinner, the opportunity to mingle with Brewers players, staff and other entertainers, special premium seating and a VIP gift package. For more information on the VIP package, call 414-902-4BRR (4277).

For the past three years, the Winter Warm-Up has been hosted in Miller Park in the Metavante and Gehl Clubs as more of a baseball “Hot Stove” show made for radio and television. FOX Sports Net Wisconsin will televise this year’s reformatted event on a tape delayed basis and returns for the third consecutive year as a media sponsor.
